The Whitsundays are a group of islands just off the Australian East Coast. We took a boat cruise out to the islands and to the famed Whitehaven Beach, which did not disappoint. The sand there consists of pure silica, blinding white and just like powder, and the water is aquamarine. Picture-perfect. Amazingly not a single hotel or resort disgraces this beautiful beach. It’s a National Park, and you can only get there by boat, so the crowds were not bad at all. Huge lace monitor lizards tried to steal our lunch, we saw our friend the giant Napoleon wrasse again while snorkelling in the afternoon, and on the way back we even spotted some spinner dolphins playing next to our boat. I would say it was the perfect Sunday. Can’t wait to see what Monday holds in store.

Ahhh…. what a wonderful day.
