As you might have noticed we did improve some things on our blog over time. I just want to mention a few of those upgrades. Most importantly the email subscription<\/strong> is working now. In the right hand column you can just fill in your email address and you’ll get a notification to your inbox when we write new stuff. Alternatively you can just fill in your email here. Needless to say that we won’t do anything bad with them, no spam and stuff.<\/p>\n

The second most important change is probably that we start to fold the articles<\/strong>, meaning on this main page you will not see all content anymore, but just the beginning. After the first paragraph or so there is a link „Weiterlesen“ („read more“ should be bilingual soon) and only if you click on it you will see the whole article.<\/p>\n

We also did add a few maps at the top<\/strong>, most importantly the Google map with our route<\/a>, which we try to update regularly. There are maps from some of our treks on runkeeper and you can even see some of our photos on a map<\/a> at flickr.<\/p>\n

And we are almost up to date with our photos<\/strong> now – you can find them in the second menu at the top, as described in our earlier posts. The very latest pics will be on flickr even before a new set is done, so <\/a>connect with us here if you have a flickr account, too.<\/p>\n

A bit of additional stuff in the sidebar: You can see the weather forecast<\/strong> for the place we are at to make you Europeans a bit jealous when we will enjoy Australian summer soon. And we added a world clock<\/strong>, so you can see what time it is wherever we are in case you want to call on our local number or try to catch us on skype. And at the bottom a direct link to Google’s translation tool, so if you don’t speak German, you can grasp part of it if you read Google’s English version of our German posts.<\/p>\n

Vielleicht habt ihr schon einige der Verbesserungen hier auf unserem Blog festgestellt, aber ich wollte einige davon nochmal kurz ansprechen. Am wichtigsten is vermutlich, dass inzwischen unser E-Mail-Abo funktioniert<\/strong>. In der rechten Seitenleiste gibt es ein Feld zum Eintragen der E-Mail-Adresse, an die dann eine Nachricht geschickt wird, wenn neue Artikel online gehen. Alternativ k\u00f6nnt ihr eure Adresse hier eintragen. Selbstverst\u00e4ndlich machen wir nichts b\u00f6ses damit, kein Spam und so.<\/p>\nEinfach E-Mail-Adresse hier eintragen:

Eine weitere wichtige Neuerung ist, dass wir unsere Artikel nun umbrechen<\/strong>. Auf der Startseite sieht man also nicht mehr den ganzen Artikel, sondern nur den Anfang. Nach einem Absatz oder so kommt ein Link „Weiterlesen“, \u00fcber den man zum ganzen Artikel gelangt.<\/p>\n

Daneben haben wir einige Karten<\/strong> in ein Men\u00fc am oberen Rand eingebaut, haupts\u00e4chlich die Google-Karte mit unserer Route<\/a>, die wir versuchen regelm\u00e4\u00dfig zu aktualisieren. Au\u00dferdem gibt es Karten von einigen unserer Wanderungen dort und auch manche unserer Fotos kann man inzwischen auf einer Karte<\/a> ansehen.<\/p>\n

Und wir sind nun fast up-to-date mit unseren Fotos<\/strong> – die findet ihr im zweiten Men\u00fc am oberen Rand wie wir das ja in einem fr\u00fcheren Artikel beschrieben haben. Die allerneusten Fotos gibt es auf Flickr sogar bevor ein Set fertig ist, also verbindet euch mit unsrem Flickr<\/a>-Konto, wenn ihr auch eines habt.<\/p>\n

In der Seitenleiste sind auch einige neue Sachen: Ganz unten gibt es jetzt nen Wetterbericht<\/strong> von dem Ort an dem wir grad sind, um die Europ\u00e4er unter euch etwas neidisch zu machen wenn wir bald den australischen Sommer genie\u00dfen. Und wir haben jetzt eine Weltzeituhr<\/strong> hinzugef\u00fcgt, dass ihr wisst wieviel Uhr es bei uns ist, falls ihr anrufen oder uns bei Skype erwischen wollt. Ganz unten ein Direktlink zum \u00dcbersetzungstool von Google f\u00fcr die, denen Englisch nicht so liegt. Auch wenn die \u00dcbersetzungen manchmal etwas mangelhaft sind, man sollte in den meisten F\u00e4llen erkennen k\u00f6nnen was gemeint ist.<\/p>\n
